TRIAL I
Trial
Today is going to be a loooong day. You knew that pretty shortly after waking up, didn't you? On the plus side, it means you've had some time to process the death of one of your own, or leisure time at the very least. But come midnight, the clocks in the castle all strike out in unison again. This time though, you barely have time to clutch your head before you're transported elsewhere.
Yes, you're coming in your pajamas if you were already in bed.
The place where you find yourself is obviously not the castle, that much is obvious from an immediate look alone. The look is very circus fair meets hell, minus any actual fire (for now). The walls, the lighting, the atmosphere is different, reds and purples and exposed rock face all together with furniture that should belong in a courtroom, and a carnival, not a caldera. It's a stylistic choice, for sure.
Seating consists of various stools on the outer ring, the layout suggesting that the preferred way to conduct trial is to free mingle towards the center, unless you're partaking in food and refreshments. A veritable bounty of a spread is available for you to partake as you like. There's even an entire table's worth of chocolate, cut out in various animal shapes for you to enjoy. And yes, alcohol too, because a banquet without the finest wines isn't a feast at all.
Even with all the food there's plenty of space for all of you, but do be careful around the pit in the center of this room. How deep does it go? Where does it lead? There are other unanswered questions to answer, and you've been tasked with finding out who murdered Tia. The Witch of Ruin demands a show and unfortunately you are his captive actors. He presides over all of this from a balcony above, the best seat in the house.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game ))

MARS ROOM
They clap their hands together.]
When we were free from the rooms we'd been locked in, the first place I checked was the Mars Room.
There I found a number of interesting items relevant to the case. For one, one of the armor sets was incomplete, given that it was missing a pair of greaves, gauntlets and sollerets. Oh, and a cuirass.
The greaves, gauntlets and sollerets were spread haphazardly on the floor, with the sollerets having a light metallic tasting stain, along with something grainy and light colored. [Yes they're admitting to having licked the stain, no they do not have any shame.]
In addition, there were shards of glass on the floor.
Also we found the cuirass hanging on a displayed weapon, with no real sign of use. [Why is the cuirass an afterthought?]
That's all.
[They bow.]
no subject
Yes, that...you called it a cuirass? Looked like it had been placed there.
It's clean. As if no one...used it.
no subject
Who would the other pieces reasonably fit, though? Since some of them seem to have been stained.
no subject
Curious as it is that they would have forgone the cuirass, 'tis plain that at least part of the armor was used.
no subject
It might be a telling choice, or it might not be. [ but that's how it's been so far, hasn't it? nothing conclusive, everything circumstantial. ] I think it might be a prudent idea to see who the armor pieces that were used might fit, though.
no subject
Agreed.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to test the measurements to see who it might or might not fit, yes.
[ another datapoint to add to the pile can't hurt. it's on them to figure out what to do with it, after all. ]
no subject
So somebody put on armor to go commit a murder. Avoid getting hit by glass too, maybe?

Anyway, even wearing the arm and leg parts of the armor would be pretty heavy, so thatβs another point in the direction of a strong killer.
no subject
It's worth noting that they didn't - or couldn't - wear the chest-piece. There's nothing to say that they wore all the other pieces either. I would hesitate against making such a claim.
no subject
Fair enough. Iβd be willing to bet the sollerets at least were used. Possibly-blood-stain and all.

[Why would you lick it...]
no subject
Not really.
no subject
Where on the sollerets was this stain?

Then 'tis reasonable to say they did walk through the mess that was left behind in the altercation. Though I imagine a proper footprint would not have held up well in the observatory, given its state.
