At least this time you were given ample time to wreck your sleep schedule before the clocks gong at midnight (no apologies for such little sleep in the first place withstanding). The carnival looks just as you remember it, with the banquet and drinks refreshed. The spread is the same as before with two new additions: a platter of cute cupcakes that might remind you of someone, along with baozi of all types.

Like before, mind the pit in the middle and settle in to vote out the guilty party for the death of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. With the benefit of experience, maybe this will be a little bit easier? With the mood weather lifted, there won't be any floods at trial at least.

It's weird, and uncanny, to be in his presence. The execution last week was a stark reminder that he is powerless in this situation.

You know Hwylryn is a dragon. Powerful, and rare magical creatures. Only the most powerful among us could keep up with him. But only barely.

[ Everyone saw the execution. And that was nothing. ]

He nearly killed one of my mentors, one of me and Bradley's cohort, and severely injured a number of our other allies. He'd been working with a wizard who had been kidnapping and beheading civilians from the nearby island, and who was also moments away from sinking the island and killing all of the innocent humans and wizards living there.

It was close, but we saved the island. And in my memory, Hwylryn is stone.

I know a bit more of his story now, and I see the way he acts around everyone when he's declawed. But I know [ we all know ] how dangerous he can be. I don't know if I'll forgive him or trust him.

[ He sighs, memories of the ocean depths leaving him and the circus carnival lights brightening his perception. ]

Siffrin suggested the debris was a trap, but what led to the handle of that door being ripped off in the first place? I highly doubt lighting from anyone's anger could have been so intentionally concentrated just on the doors.

And... if Siobhan ran straight from someone in the library or banquet hall, why were the solarium doors thrown open?
