TRIAL II
Trial
At least this time you were given ample time to wreck your sleep schedule before the clocks gong at midnight (no apologies for such little sleep in the first place withstanding). The carnival looks just as you remember it, with the banquet and drinks refreshed. The spread is the same as before with two new additions: a platter of cute cupcakes that might remind you of someone, along with baozi of all types.
Like before, mind the pit in the middle and settle in to vote out the guilty party for the death of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. With the benefit of experience, maybe this will be a little bit easier? With the mood weather lifted, there won't be any floods at trial at least.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game ))

[ and if you really don't care about the ten other people in the room with you. ]
What we know is that one had to have come first: the obstacles on the floor, the blocked exits... It doesn't make sense for them to come after the fire.

If Siobhan wasn't the victim – if she had set out to kill someone initially – then why would the killer feel the need to go after her and set the entire area on fire, putting themself at risk in pursuit of her? And if they were awake, how would she have had the time to lock everything without them noticing?
[ (i also may be stupid and am missing something) ]
Did they know if she had a target in mind, I wonder...?

[ he shrugs. ]
If she had a plan, she could have waited until everyone fell asleep and set everything up leaving the bathroom exit as her escape. Leave a poker waiting for when you need it. Seconds at most to make an exit from there and still block people in.

[ ...ugh. Ugh! This is so confusing! And then the lightning gets factored in – ]

Siobhan was with us when we were all trapped in the library for the night.

[ he's going to do more thinking on this. ]
However, whatever happened whether it was a set or not, would have needed to happen quickly given the state of her body and the weather. It was snowing outside when she was found and her body was both wet had not gotten stiff...
If she was the attacker here then whoever "defended us" certainly had an interesting sense of priorities.
[ TEN OTHER PEOPLE IN THE LIBRABY MAN!!! ]

There are those who don't trust anyone here. Plus, if we're talking about the mood weather stuff, if you're basic - [ a little smile. ] - sorry, I meant if you're normal, you'd have to be quite upset to produce lightning, I'd think. And... there are people out there, who become a different person entirely...
... when they're angry.

Following that logic, the lightning strike from that extreme of a mood could be the source of what started the fire, correct? It didn't seem like there was any other clear source of the fire otherwise.
A byproduct of things going wrong.

However, we shouldn't rule it out completely.

They'll gently set a stained, wooden buck in Yoru's hand, precisely carved with small details of the antlers and hooves. The animal's mid-rest, somewhat relaxed, and one can almost imagine it lifting its head the moment there might be a sound. ]
I made this for you.

startled eyes meet siffrin's. he's quiet for a long, long moment. then his expression shifts and he looks... like he doesn't know what face he should be making. it shifts between angry and confused and - something else.
oh. ]
... Why?
