You awaken smothered in wonderfully soft blankets. If you are lucky, there is a warm body next to you, but... those are becoming shorter and shorter in supply, aren't they?

It's Monday at Château Ambregris, and you have just arrived here. Whatever clothes you are wearing, whatever injuries you are sporting... They are once again accurate to how you were before this tale began. Whether this leaves you with any urgent matters to take care of or relieved of ailing you had contracted in the 'last' week, the gong of the numerous clocks chimes out indifferently to the hour. Gone is the urgent summons of the past two weeks, with no Witch to greet you.

Rise and shine, and face your 'first' day in your 'new' home! And though you may now think yourself quite familiar with it, maybe another look around wouldn't hurt?

TIME LOOP:

-Characters wake up with the clothes they had with them at their canon point, like in the intro log.
-The state of their bodies is exactly the same as it was on the intro log (for better or worse).
-Any items they accumulated last week are also reset (sorry you'll need to build up your weapon cache again), except items that were given out as event rewards. Please note that the item uses are not reset.

WEEKLY EFFECT

This week every character will have a spirit animal that follows them around like a familiar. The choice of animal is up to you (natural or supernatural), but it should represent them in some way. The animal is restricted in size to that of a large dog and is incorporeal, though it can interact with other spirit animals. As the animal is a representation of their heart and inner self, it might be better at expressing itself than it's owner.

Yes, this is basically daemons. This palace clearly needs more animals for emotional support!

G'raha kneels, gently setting the makeshift arrangement on the floor so he can pull a ribbon out of one of his pockets. It's navy, the color smooth and warm even amongst its cool tone. ]

Arcanists are the only field that tend to summon their own companions. 'Tis a rare thing indeed, even where I hail from.

[ The carbuncle seems to be thrilled by that, its little feet tapping on the floor as it runs a perimeter around the dragon. ]

[ He's dying to peer at Dan Heng's notes, but he has self control, so he simply glances at the page to see how organized it is. ]

I imagine it assists you with making new discoveries as well.

I would imagine that we are indeed complicating matters for him. 'Tis the way of humans, after all, and I've no doubt we have done plenty of unexpected things.

Uhh...I'm not the best person to talk about that. Just think of the relevant stuff as...science and math equations that some people use to talk about time travel?

[ Like, she could give a super basic definition, but that'd probably just be even more confusing... Closed timelike curves... ]

It's super annoying and complicated, and I like the more philosophical side of stuff more!

[Andrew tilts her head demurely, an echo of the obedient girl she grew up as reflected in the gesture.

She can't deny that. She has lived in a dark and hollow place her entire life with only one comfort. There is something about it that might make her a caged wild animal of her own; she's guarded and protective of herself and acted rashly in a fit, and it's difficult to think outside of walls she's never scaled.]

I agree with this approach. What, in particular, was different about that week? Did any of us make any unexpected decisions that deviated from the past? Did one small difference in routine cause a cascade that changed the rest of our behavior for the week?

[ He looks at the magpie, catching its gaze for a moment and giving it a small smile before looking away. ]

Accumulated wealth doesn't come without a lot of cost to others. Eventually, it'll catch up to you, even if it's your descendant who hasn't done anything but be born weak.

Hmm, sucks for the descendants, but that does make sense. It sounds like the sorta thing to attract grudges.

Surprised you get it. That young master definitely disliked his lot in life. [ Amusedly smirks. ] Well, not that he did much to help himself.

Shit happens. [ She thinks about the misfortune behind that car accident as kids, but mentally waves the image away, frowning. ]

On a scale from funny to sad, how bad was it?

Hmm. 50? [ funny or sad though, or how big the scale, he doesn't elaborate. ]

[The distinction is way beyond her thus far, but she'll eventually catch up to it. Maybe. Does she need to know the difference between magic and a curse? The only information that's really pertinent is information that'll solve their questions.]

Things aren't really ever the same once you've lost them, are they? [Her voice drops a little, low and contemplative.] Maybe he knows and doesn't care.

Wow. So either that's the most mopey kid to ever mope, or he's the butt of every slapstick joke ever. [ what's worse here. ]

Oh, he's probably the angriest piece of shit you could meet. He's in love with that fluffy kid, but he treats him so badly. But he was so desperate for him to stay he let himself get completely possessed.

What the heck? So treating him nicely was harder than not getting possessed. Uh-huh, suuuuure.

What about our heightened emotions? Most of us reported feeling or acting strangely.

... Though if that were the catalyst, we'd have to question why he didn't subject us to the same the following week or this one.
