Your early morning begins with the infernal but familiar chime of dozens of grandfather clocks crying out in unison. Or does it? Let's rewind a little!

For those of you on the first floor of the castle the morning may begin just a few seconds earlier and it may sound more like BOOM!! - and who doesn't enjoy the ominous rumble of an explosion as their wake-up call? At least nothing seems to be immediately on fire this time.

Whether it is the boom or the clocks that wake you, you'll find that it is just past 5am and another Friday is upon you. While this may fill you with a sense of trepidation, you might still enjoy taking a quick look out the window. Every single flowering plant in the garden is in full bloom today, despite not even getting to the point of budding during the rest of the week. You don't remember spotting cherry trees out there before, but there they are. There's plum and apple, too, seemingly new saplings you don't remember from last night crowding the palace windows. You can only hope that this is a good omen for all things to come.

[It's a disembodied torso in a dark shirt with a blue vest over it.

The bloody puddle looks to be pretty diluted, but there does appear to be blood in the water.]

Ahhhh…

[ the tears start rolling down her cheeks, as she stares at the torso of the man that had served as a guidepost for her in this place.

she has to force herself to not simply fall on the ground, forcing herself to swallow a scream as she tries to circle the torso. are there any footsteps in the water? handprints? ]

[The torso is pretty ragged and still kind of damp, and there are stumps where the limbs haven't been severed down to the root. The blue vest is also stained with dark patches.

There aren't any footprints or handprints, but she does also spot some small watery red streaks on the floor nearer to the salon, and a large, crumpled curtain nearby.]

[ you know that she’s going to avoid looking at the body if possible, so she’s headed towards the curtain and looking above and nearby. does this look like a curtain from the gallery? ]

[She's so valid for that, actually.

There aren't any curtains in the gallery normally, but Ayaka is probably extremely familiar with the look of a theater curtain considering her first week in the castle!]

[ she’ll crouch down by the curtain, taking a look. please don’t say there’s a body part hidden under it. ]

[There are dark stains on the curtain, but she'll have to move the curtain to get a better look.]

[ ayaka closes her eyes, and draws in a shuddering breath. she feels faint and her legs might give in but…

she steels herself and grabs the curtain to move it. ]

[Ayaka is rewarded with...... more curtain!

Fortunately for her, it looks like her luck(?) with body parts has run out.

Would she like to examine the stains?]

[ she would not!

but she will regardless. how much blood is on the curtains? ]

[She'll have to sort of dig to find the whole stain, and possibly flatten out the curtain for a better look, but she'll find two distinct patches of stain.

One is a smaller but deeper-colored splotch that seems to have soaked through the curtain. It's only partially dried. The other is drier, but that's because there's a big section of the curtain around both stains that is still damp but not bloody.

The latter bloodstain is lighter in color and covers more surface area, looking a bit more like a series of splotches.]

[ are the splotches shaped in any way that might indicate some sort of pattern or no? ]

[It doesn't look like there's any kind of pattern to them. The majority of the staining is just sort of localized to one area of the curtain, though if she spreads the curtain out entirely, she'll notice some lighter staining or what looks like lines of dried blood a little further across the curtain from the initial, darker splotches.]

[ she looks at the curtain and then at the torso, a shiver running down her spine.

if she touches any of the wet spots, can she figure out what it smells like? is it mostly blood or mostly water? ]

[Looks like the damp spots are mostly water. Smells kind of fishy.]

[ she really wants to throw up, actually, but she’s being really good and brave about everything.

she’s going to drop the curtain, and if there’s nothing else around, she’ll make her way back to the torso. ]

The torso is still here..... lying in a pool of blood and water. What would she like to examine about it?]

[ she would like to leave it alone and go to her room and cry.

and by that, i mean that she wants to observe the state of the stumps. was this done with a clean cut or not? ]

[The stumps are not clean cuts, they all seem to be severed at different points of the limb, and the severed sites are torn and ragged. She can probably make out the edges of what look like bite marks here and there, especially on what's left of the legs.]

okay she is not going to hyperventilate she will not hyperventilate she is fine she is fine she’s fine.

she looks at the rest of the torso. are there any bite marks or any stab wounds that she can see? ]

[She can probably spot some other places where the cloth is torn in suspiciously triangular-shaped slices and rips, and where the clothes are completely torn away there's more bite marks.

It would probably be pretty hard to find a stab wound in this mess, so that search is inconclusive.]

[ with naru’s blessing, she is going to go ahead and start removings the clothes on his torso to get a better look. because all she has to go on is stuff that she has seen on tv. ]
