EPILOGUE

Your stopped time has restarted. Whether you were in the grassy field or fighting for your life on the castle grounds, you'll suddenly find yourself in an untouched area of the gardens. Ish is back, and so are the items, and the dead.

You return to Chateau Ambregris with the certain knowledge that come Monday, you will greet a new week, in a home of your own choosing. No longer will the chime of the clocks hunt you down, no longer will the oppressive scent of roses haunt your senses, no longer will you be forced to watch the death of those you've come to love and hate.

Parting is such a bittersweet sorrow, isn't it?

Make merry one last time, in this castle of illusions. Ironically, your memories of this stolen time that never existed are the one thing that will truly remain to you.

And meet with the other members of your family for a while. [She still doesn't know what answer she was seeking. When it comes to this - the "what's next?" - leaves her uneasy and unmoored. Andrew doesn't like the uncertainty of it, but for her, and perhaps even for Siffrin, there's really no direction but forward.]

Does it feel more or less daunting now? [For all intents and purposes, they have more tools on their side now; it's just that the makeup of everything has changed.] You have extra chapters to add to the story.

[ ........... judging by the flash of realization on his face, he didn't even think of it. Not that it would've been his choice, anyway, but still. ]

I guess it's possible it could have worked on it, but... [ sweats ] Given how sudden everything was, between killing Siobhan and having to deal with the aftermath of the fire, I did not have much time to exactly go over my choices.

[ But on the chance Ayaka didn't make it, he's not sure he would have been happy with that decision, either way. ]

In a way, my illness was my means for making her happy, as well as my act of rebellion against my father. [There's...a lot to unpack there, and maybe it's too late for them to ever talk about these things. Or maybe it will come out gradually, the longer they find they actually have. Maybe they'll never meet again; maybe it will surprise them.]

Now that I have this life ahead of me, I have to get creative. I guess I have to live.

[ The struggles Blade has as a girl dad is immense!! Truly, he suffers each and every day whenever he has to put up with Silver Wolf's shenanigans. Even if it's been awhile.

...Really, though, the Stellaron Hunters ended up being good for him in certain ways even if the beginning he hadn't foreseen getting along in some ways with them.

Much like the same as to how he met the people here, and all. ]

[ A double-date sounds like something out of one of those fictional settings, but he has heard of the concept. Honestly, he doesn't think...he and Dan Heng have gone on a proper date before. He should...fix that, actually...? It's actually giving him something to think about.

Blade then also pauses and looks at Dan Heng, realizing he opened his mouth, and said something without thinking. ]

[ Despite the subject matter, he laughs. ]

Perhaps you should write a song about it. When I was imprisoned, I wrote one about how much I did not enjoy it!

[ At least thoughts of what he can do with his time make him feel less daunted by it all, and it's evident in the ease of his smile that that's the case. ]

Each compliment is like an arrow into his heart, one after the other, and a flush rises up on his cheeks. Good thing Siffrin can actually see it this time. ]

I do...and I like the way you say it too. [ all the ways hwylryn has said it, bursting with joy, or a whisper dropped low in his ear. the memories make him smile, as momentary as it is. ]

They knew, and she was important to them too. But...Norna's intentions were always good, but oftentimes they were too straightforward. She'd get overwhelmed easily and act impulsively, which is what happened the night they turned on her.

The King wanted her hand in marriage, but the other tribes objected to it—it'd cause a huge power imbalance if one nation was wedded to a Goddess. They went back and forth for a while until Norna demanded they stop because she had a solution.

She'd take every single human into herself, she'd consume them, and by doing so there would be no more cause for strife or disagreement. They'd be with her forever and all apart of her, in neverending peace.

That's what she would have done to me, if you didn't change her mind.

[ now he's just terrible amused. ]

I loved humans and wished for their happiness, literally as I came into my powers. I got along better with them than my fellow attendants, actually.

[ As difficult as it is to express them in full with everything that exists between the both of them, he feels that the easiest way to do so is through the press of their lips together, and he wonders if it will be like that always. ]
