TRIAL I

Trial

Today is going to be a loooong day. You knew that pretty shortly after waking up, didn't you? On the plus side, it means you've had some time to process the death of one of your own, or leisure time at the very least. But come midnight, the clocks in the castle all strike out in unison again. This time though, you barely have time to clutch your head before you're transported elsewhere.

Yes, you're coming in your pajamas if you were already in bed.

The place where you find yourself is obviously not the castle, that much is obvious from an immediate look alone. The look is very circus fair meets hell, minus any actual fire (for now). The walls, the lighting, the atmosphere is different, reds and purples and exposed rock face all together with furniture that should belong in a courtroom, and a carnival, not a caldera. It's a stylistic choice, for sure.

Seating consists of various stools on the outer ring, the layout suggesting that the preferred way to conduct trial is to free mingle towards the center, unless you're partaking in food and refreshments. A veritable bounty of a spread is available for you to partake as you like. There's even an entire table's worth of chocolate, cut out in various animal shapes for you to enjoy. And yes, alcohol too, because a banquet without the finest wines isn't a feast at all.

Even with all the food there's plenty of space for all of you, but do be careful around the pit in the center of this room. How deep does it go? Where does it lead? There are other unanswered questions to answer, and you've been tasked with finding out who murdered Tia. The Witch of Ruin demands a show and unfortunately you are his captive actors. He presides over all of this from a balcony above, the best seat in the house.

(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game ))

'Twas on the bottom of those sollerets, so 'tis also possible that they walked through the blood.

If it was blood at all. While metallic taste indicates blood, the texture seemeth odd for it.

Really? Then... what did it feel like instead?

[ watch

it be a spot of rust or something on the metal armor. that tastes metallic. or something. but also did urianger also lick it or did he do more reasonable science like pick at it or something. ]

Do you have any ideas on what else it might be, then?

I speak of what Chara described.

[So no, he didn't taste it himself. But honestly, he's starting to wonder...]

I shall go and examine it further myself.

sollerets update

[personal profile] divineth 2025-03-15 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Here comes Urianger from the evidence station.]

The mysterious grainy substance attached to the bottom of the sollerets is white with traces of silver. It is mixed into the stain, which is quite small, faint and brown in color.

[ what the fuck is that even. ]

... It was not someone tracking blood, then. Or at least, the grainy substance isn't.

[ no shit, but then ???? maybe the stain might still be but ???

where's a geologist/archaeologist to lick suspicious maybe rocks to identify them when you need one. ]

Aye, and that would explain wherefore we have not found any obvious footprints and the like.

[Seriously though what is this stuff?]

Was there anything with glitter? That shit gets everywhere, so...something on a costume in the theater or what someone's wearing?
divineth: (πŸŒ’ 24)

[personal profile] divineth 2025-03-15 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed it does. But I have not heard word on any similar substances discovered elsewhere...

I think it's glass. Maybe from the mirrors? It had the scent of metal.

( he got up close to it... )

Did you look inside of the solleret? And shake it out for potential debris?
divineth: (πŸŒ’ 3)

[personal profile] divineth 2025-03-15 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh...!]

Mine investigation centered on the stain in particular, so alas, I did not.
baebladie: (Just a littleβ€…more)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-15 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's fine. Blade went and checked just now. ]

They were empty.

But, it doesn't mean we shouldn't do a size comparison with them.

[ People who could...potentially fit into the sollerets, he means. ]

Could the silver grains be crushed mirror pieces?
divineth: (πŸŒ’ 17)

[personal profile] divineth 2025-03-15 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
'Twould make the most sense, given the amount of glass involved.

Didst thou witness any parts of the mirror shards crushed within the promenade?

I admit I didn't look that closely, but if it helps, the pieces of mirror that I found varied in size.

Just checking, but you... didn't find enough to put together a completed mirror, right?
oncefallen: (3)

[personal profile] oncefallen 2025-03-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That wasn't exactly what was on my mind when I was looking at the pieces...

The room had many mirrors' worth of shards, it would have taken more time than we had to even attempt to put them together.
