TRIAL II

Trial

At least this time you were given ample time to wreck your sleep schedule before the clocks gong at midnight (no apologies for such little sleep in the first place withstanding). The carnival looks just as you remember it, with the banquet and drinks refreshed. The spread is the same as before with two new additions: a platter of cute cupcakes that might remind you of someone, along with baozi of all types.

Like before, mind the pit in the middle and settle in to vote out the guilty party for the death of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. With the benefit of experience, maybe this will be a little bit easier? With the mood weather lifted, there won't be any floods at trial at least.

(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game ))

... Um. To me, the collection... sound a lot like something someone might use as an alarm, or to trip someone up if they were chasing them.

[ Even if it was causing the blockage, Siffrin

figures it's probably an okay thing to point out. ]

[ she looks at cain. then at bradley. and then she remembers the plaques. ]

Are you really 600 years old?!

No, I don't know if it was or wasn't. The culprit could have done it from outside, too, where the doors were, since there were scorch marks. There were objects stacked right outside of it, after all.

[ So in the process of doing that, lightning could've struck. ]

.....Historically, bathrooms contain water sources and often times less flammable materials like marble. If you wanted to keep people trapped in a room full of fire, cutting off water supplies is a good idea.

[Hmmm.]

The materials to create this rock would need to be present. The castle grounds are more optimal.

It's possible. There weren't any thunderstorms during the week besides the ones caused by us.

My thoughts as well.

Shiv or the killer could have made it then.

You know what, Richard, sure, she means you.

But when? Did he start the fire, go off and kill, then come back and block the doors?

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-22 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you could be correct. A rolling pin could easily trip a person who is running and not paying care to their surroundings.

It was snowing, correct? Could it be feasible that the dampness came from that?

[personal profile] vivens 2025-03-22 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't.

[ he's going to do more thinking on this. ]

However, whatever happened whether it was a set or not, would have needed to happen quickly given the state of her body and the weather. It was snowing outside when she was found and her body was both wet had not gotten stiff...

If she was the attacker here then whoever "defended us" certainly had an interesting sense of priorities.

[ TEN OTHER PEOPLE IN THE LIBRABY MAN!!! ]

[Hurrayyy

Also to check, but in the area next to the stab wound, there weren't any tears/cuts in the clothes or any small wounds on the skin? Basically, he's looking for if it was just a single stab to the chest or if there's anything suggesting they were looking for the right spot to stab.]

If her murderer was her intended victim, I believe the question we ought to be asking is whether we intend to punish them for the crime of self defense.

[ Not that there's a better option, but like, that sucks? ]

[He has to think about that...]

Someone proficient with technology may have the ability to do so without magicks, but 'twould be difficult to achieve with the resources here.

[At least, no one's found any evidence that would imply someone built anything to make lightning.]
distain: (13)

Present at the library, you mean?

[ Hang on. ]

Scarlet mentioned there were scorch marks that were identical in nature, from the banquet hall to the solarium, right? What if those were caused by lightning strikes?

Who is this "chivalrous man" that you're referring to?
