At least this time you were given ample time to wreck your sleep schedule before the clocks gong at midnight (no apologies for such little sleep in the first place withstanding). The carnival looks just as you remember it, with the banquet and drinks refreshed. The spread is the same as before with two new additions: a platter of cute cupcakes that might remind you of someone, along with baozi of all types.

Like before, mind the pit in the middle and settle in to vote out the guilty party for the death of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. With the benefit of experience, maybe this will be a little bit easier? With the mood weather lifted, there won't be any floods at trial at least.

[ his expression turns thoughtful, but settles into a smile again. ]

Hey, not a bad idea! [ There's a little laugh behind his tone, genuinely pleased by the notion. ]

Hmm, good question... [ He lets his gaze wander in thought as he taps his chin, though his gold eye eventually finds its way to Ish's general face area. ] Is there anything you want you can't get with your magic? I'd do what I can to help.

You two have a history right? [ points a finger over to Hwylryn and then after a beat. ]

( Hwylryn looks up from the torta di cocco he's eating...

His expression is unusually even as he studies Cain and Ish's interaction, but he doesn't interrupt. )

[ It barely counts as a history. He meant it when he said he only knew Hwylryn for a night.

It's weird, and uncanny, to be in his presence. The execution last week was a stark reminder that he is powerless in this situation.

Well, not completely. So long as Ish keeps the magic off...

You know Hwylryn is a dragon. Powerful, and rare magical creatures. Only the most powerful among us could keep up with him. But only barely.

[ Everyone saw the execution. And that was nothing. ]

He nearly killed one of my mentors, one of me and Bradley's cohort, and severely injured a number of our other allies. He'd been working with a wizard who had been kidnapping and beheading civilians from the nearby island, and who was also moments away from sinking the island and killing all of the innocent humans and wizards living there.

It was close, but we saved the island. And in my memory, Hwylryn is stone.

[ His eyes drop to the floor briefly, then back up to Ish's snakes (ugh). ]

I know a bit more of his story now, and I see the way he acts around everyone when he's declawed. But I know [ we all know ] how dangerous he can be. I don't know if I'll forgive him or trust him.

[ He sighs, memories of the ocean depths leaving him and the circus carnival lights brightening his perception. ]

Says a lot about you that you managed to snag a dragon like him and bring him here.

[ A compliment (?), just for Ish! Finally, the smile comes back to him. ]

( He chews slowly on his torta di cocco, saying nothing to Cain's unfortunate public assessment of him.

( He succeeded in that, he guesses. )

Yeah, it was kind of a shock to see you here alive and well.

[He. He did not realize it was the same Hwylryn until execution.]

Cain doesn't look in his direction, because he can't see him, so his gaze remains at rest. ]

[ He hears the stuff about the Other Wizard and, after a glance at Hwylryn, does not look in that direction again. ]

Just pondering over this, saying nothing at all. ]

[ barely cain says, and then drops all of that wow. ish has a small grin on his face as he listens, lips curved into an amused line. there's a laugh, a chuckle really, as the story comes to its conclusion. ]

You know, you could have just told me all of that. But I guess you really wanted to get it all out there, huh?

But regardless, that's enough. I trust you won't take my word for it, so a copy just for you. [ hands him one and if you want unkie they can brush hands so cain can finally see what he looks like. ] It'll be in the Hall like the rest of them once you leave.
