WEEK THREE

WEEK THREE
28 Guests

You awaken smothered in wonderfully soft blankets. If you are lucky, there is a warm body next to you, but... those are becoming shorter and shorter in supply, aren't they?

It's Monday at ChΓ’teau Ambregris, and you have just arrived here. Whatever clothes you are wearing, whatever injuries you are sporting... They are once again accurate to how you were before this tale began. Whether this leaves you with any urgent matters to take care of or relieved of ailing you had contracted in the 'last' week, the gong of the numerous clocks chimes out indifferently to the hour. Gone is the urgent summons of the past two weeks, with no Witch to greet you.

Rise and shine, and face your 'first' day in your 'new' home! And though you may now think yourself quite familiar with it, maybe another look around wouldn't hurt?

TIME LOOP:
-Characters wake up with the clothes they had with them at their canon point, like in the intro log.
-The state of their bodies is exactly the same as it was on the intro log (for better or worse).
-Any items they accumulated last week are also reset (sorry you'll need to build up your weapon cache again), except items that were given out as event rewards. Please note that the item uses are not reset.

LOCATIONS UPDATED:
- library, gardens
- mud bath β†’ aquarium
- menagerie β†’ photography studio
- grotto β†’ greenhouse

WEEKLY EFFECT
This week every character will have a spirit animal that follows them around like a familiar. The choice of animal is up to you (natural or supernatural), but it should represent them in some way. The animal is restricted in size to that of a large dog and is incorporeal, though it can interact with other spirit animals. As the animal is a representation of their heart and inner self, it might be better at expressing itself than it's owner.

Yes, this is basically daemons. This palace clearly needs more animals for emotional support!

(OOC: Murder proposals and counter proposals are open! )

Well...

[ He holds it close to him, still. ]

I did not anticipate that movement being noticed.
baebladie: (You'll never make it)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-29 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not blind.

[ Blade says simply, but then again not everyone is probably watching the movements of other people so closely. He still lets the comment stand as it is, though.

Though on the subject, he speaks more: ]

You can't hide from it forever.

In fiction; in reality. Do you think looking at it means you've succumbed?

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-29 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ He gives Blade a look of surprise, eyes wide and lips parted. ]

...To think you would lecture me.

[ Blade is making incredibly good points, but he's a little bit stuck on that right now.

Sorry. ]
baebladie: (I'm already all gone)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-29 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ And now he's making a little bit of a face. ]

This is barely much of a lecture.

[ Blade immediately says, but for him...

...that is what it is, isn't it? ]
allrounder: (72)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-30 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
For you, it may as well be an entire lecture series.

[ He smiles, and maybe he shouldn't when surrounded by all of this, but he can't help it. ]

To save you from doling out another lecture, I will say this—this particular memory is personal to me. I would rather be the only one that sees it.
baebladie: (Go on and deny your heart)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-30 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ A small grunt leaves him at that. As if he is disagreeing with G'raha's words based on principle without even saying a single word. How can anyone but Blade manage this. But, he is who he is...smile is probably good, though. ]

I don't have to bother to see it. [ He isn't going to force him to show it. He has other methods of tackling the problem (?) even if he's slightly curious. ] Question is, do you see yourself moving past it? Or acknowledging it is something you can overcome?

[ Rather than letting the fear take route in his heart in this depicted illusionary outcome. ]
allrounder: (76)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-30 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He had a feeling Blade wouldn't push for seeing it, in spite of his own curiosity. He'll probably wait until later, maybe, when they're not in the midst of scenes of death playing out around them.

G'raha smiles when his prediction comes true. ]

Allow me to word it this way, friend. I will press forward, while keeping this within my heart and within my mind.
baebladie: (that it's like that)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-31 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ There are definitely no restrictions on later, indeed.

As for now...yes, that intuition proves to be in line with his expectations. ]

...Then, you've already decided to face it all with resolve.

[ Which, well, is actually quite satisfactory, to him. Unflinching, accepting that fear, and moving onwards. Then again, maybe he shouldn't be surprised that G'raha would... ]
allrounder: (65)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-31 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed I have.

[ That photo stays on him, but he looks up at one of the others—everyone transforming into monsters. It loops, horrible sight after horrible sight. ]

Many of these are fears of what could have been. For so long, I followed a meticulous plan and would fret over what may happen should an obstacle be thrown into my carefully thought out movements.

[ His gaze finds Blade again, eyes a bright red underneath the red lights. ]

While this [ he gestures to the photo in his hand ] is not quite the same, the sentiment remains.
baebladie: (At the end of the broken sky)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-31 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It looks horrible, though Blade finds the sight more familiar than most of the others - on the Xianzhou that could happen to anyone who becomes marastruck. His gaze lingers on it, even, before it slides back to the other, focused, but hoping (what a word for him to use) that determination lingers. ]

Then, I'll have to see you continue to show that's the case.

[ G'raha's clearly faced them down before...so, nothing should be holding him back, right? ]
allrounder: (37)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-03-31 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He laughs, almost. It's more of a little huff than anything. ]

I hope I can manage.

[ Blade and his high expectations... but G'raha had seen the photo he was looking at, so he tilts his head slightly. ]

Would you be interested in the story behind that?
baebladie: (So sad)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-31 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ G'raha speaks with such confidence, he'd better be ready to show it in truth! Though, he knows it is still something that is easier said than done. He doubts G'raha wasn't completely immune to seeing his fears start him back in the face like this...so he looks at him for a moment as if the gaze simply says "you will". But at the question? ]

...I would.

[ It certainly has piqued more than a smidgen of his curiosity, after all. What could have even potentially caused the possibility? ]

It reminds me of something I have seen before.
allrounder: (64)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-01 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me of it, then.

[ He'll launch into his own explanation first, however. ]

I remember that scene as if it had occurred only a few days ago. Those who were swallowed by despair or grief... would turn into what was known as "abominations," creatures so unholy that they were deemed a curse worse than even the greatest demon.

At this time, the leaders were holding a meeting to determine our next course of action. A woman was frantic over her son, and before we could prevent it from happening... despair overtook her and she transformed. The sight alone was enough to cause the transformation of several others, and the actions of those monsters only served to cause a chain of transformations.
baebladie: (It blooms like it’s scattered)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-04-01 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Blade looks at G'raha, quiet as ever, if only to listen to the explanation he has to grant on the horrid scene he's speaking on.

It sounds almost similar in practice to being Marastruck, though he doesn't think it is the type to incur such terribly similar reactions from just being witnessed - it could, because there is a mental aspect to it. But, not all at once. ]

This can still persist among your people? Or did you find permanent resolution?

...Being Marastruck can cause the same. A change into an abomination.

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-02 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
'Twas a result of an aspect of our star—and universe—named "dynamis". Strong emotions create an impact on their environs, and in this instance, despair brought forth abominations.

The influence of dynamis is typically not quite so noticeable, however the flow of aether had been disrupted and that resulted in the strengthening of dynamis.

[ There's... a lot more to it, but he thinks that's a sufficient explanation. ]

We managed to defeat the source of such despair, you are correct.
baebladie: (in your hall of fame)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-04-02 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's more than sufficient. Blade's not the type of person to demand to many details, preferring efficient explanations that get straight to the heart of the matter, so this suits him just fine (at the moment.)

Speaking of explanations, though, there is one final thread to inquire about, and so he does.

Because he speaks of defeat, but not exactly what it was, so... ]

What was the source?

[ A monster? Or something that was a bit more...harder to define as an enemy. A metaphysical enemy of some kind? A god? ]
allrounder: (29)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-02 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
A girl named Meteion, found on the outskirts of our universe in Ultima Thule.

[ His gaze travels to the photo with he and his friends slowly perishing in the depths of space.

He has a feeling that Blade will ask, so he continues: ]

She was sent out to scout other stars and report on civilizations. Having found nothing but despair, she succumbed to it herself. With despair so great, created the end of days for star after star, and it eventually traveled to Etheirys.

[ There's...... so much more to it, too, but not even G'raha knows everything that the Warrior of Light does. He never lived those details quite so intimately, having only heard it second hand. ]
baebladie: (that it's like that)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-04-02 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That...

Sure is something. She sounds more than a simple existence; that is on the level of an Aeon, for sure. ]

...Your home world.

[ ... ]

Good that it was settled, even though the source was powerful. And complicated to deal with.

[ Because that is one hell of a resume for an enemy to have. Bringing the apocalypse to worlds and still being brought to heel. Never let it be said no one on Etheirys lacks in strength. ]
allrounder: (80)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-02 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. 'Tis not easy to battle despair in its purest form.

[ It was a battle of wills of the purest sort, using dynamis to feed hope into the environment to counter the despair.

To move forward. ]

I was fortunate enough that the Warrior of Light told me of how it came to an end. His stories of love and connection brought her to an understanding—hope was on Etheirys all along, it simply needed to be built. She used the last of her will to spring forth life within the stars again. It will take time, but I am certain that stars devastated by grief and despair will one day contain hope.
baebladie: (But I know you’re on the right track)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-04-03 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ Blade hadn't expected it to sound like something from a fairytale. But, here we are, apparently.

Though, on the flipside, the incident itself somehow balances itself out by sounding like a complete nightmare before that point. Funny how that works? ]

...his stories of love and connection. He must have been compelling.

[ Okay, maybe he is not that type of person for that stuff still, but he can be grateful, for G'raha's sake. ]

If she restored life, then eventually it would come back. Though, I'm not sure how it would look.

[ There's another pause on his end and he looks towards the door. ]

...But, if what you said is true - and all of these, including this one - are fears you've moved past, then...you're ready to leave this room.

Aren't you?
allrounder: (10)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-03 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed he is. There is no one else like the Warrior of Light.

[ It's strange, the way he would have sounded much more enamored only a few weeks ago as he spoke of the man. But now? He's fully settled on his contentedness with friendship. It's freeing, more than anything.

He smiles, only a soft upwards turn of his lips. ]

I daresay your assessment is correct. I still hold these fears within my heart, and I occasionally wake in the dead of night as a result of their intrusion into my dreams, however...

They are nothing more than fears.
baebladie: (Poison apple)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-04-03 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Blade isn't surprised - someone with such a mantle would inevitably be an individual that has quite a bit of notable capability and feat behind them.

That being said, the answer G'raha gives is exactly the kind he's been looking for. ]

...That's all they are.

[ They will stay. Maybe as proof that life is no simple matter.

But, they can ultimately be surmounted, again and again. At least...that's what he's learned. ]

Time to leave them behind, then. This is no place to linger.

[ The road ahead remains beyond the door - and he will move towards it, expecting the other to follow. ]
allrounder: (60)

[personal profile] allrounder 2025-04-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

[ He certainly doesn't want to linger himself, and so he'll gladly follow Blade out the door. ]

As always, your assistance means the world to me, friend.
