Investigation IV

INVESTIGATION

Being forced asleep the second the clock struck midnight has been an ill-omen for weeks now. Yet this morning sees you waking not to explosions and smoke, but to the comfortable feeling of eight hours of uninterrupted rest. It's 8 in the morning and the sun is already out, and all is quiet around Chateau Ambregris.

Do you dare hope that you can face the day without further bloodshed? That Ish's announcement of needing no more bodies has stilled the restless violence in everybody's hearts? They say time heals all wounds, but has this ever-repeating week truly had the same effect?

(( OOC: Comment to this entry with where your character is going in the morning. A mod response will let you know if there’s anything to be found there! The Investigation is a free-for-all until all bodies have been found.

Once the victim(s) have been identified, there will be an IC announcement, and mods will provide Investigation sub-headers for the relevant locations. Up to 3 characters are welcome to investigate under each header unless indicated otherwise. ))

[The moment he'd realized Sariel hadn't been in the room with the rest of them, Vanis had gone running, his footsteps instinctively taking him to where the two of them had spoken directly for the first time, where the ants Sariel so loved were. Because surely, if anything had happened, he would have wanted to be sure they were all right...

He so rarely engages in any sort of significant physical activity that he can't tell whether his lungs are burning from that or from the way his breathing has somehow sped up on its own. Sariel will be worried when he sees how breathless Vanis is, he's sure.

He's sure, because...

It's the red that catches his sight first. So much of it, surrounding what's unmistakably Sariel in that same outfit he was wearing yesterday. Were it not for that, it might almost look as though he were just watching the ants the way he always does.

That burning in Vanis' chest transforms into something both sharp and aching all at once.

I will...take you to one of the beaches.

And we can watch the horizon together.

He's never regretted falling before, never once regretted the freedom it has brought him to feel emotions the way angels aren't allowed to.

But now? Now he wishes he couldn't feel anything at all.]
