Investigation IV
INVESTIGATION
Being forced asleep the second the clock struck midnight has been an ill-omen for weeks now. Yet this morning sees you waking not to explosions and smoke, but to the comfortable feeling of eight hours of uninterrupted rest. It's 8 in the morning and the sun is already out, and all is quiet around Chateau Ambregris.
Do you dare hope that you can face the day without further bloodshed? That Ish's announcement of needing no more bodies has stilled the restless violence in everybody's hearts? They say time heals all wounds, but has this ever-repeating week truly had the same effect?
(( OOC: Comment to this entry with where your character is going in the morning. A mod response will let you know if thereβs anything to be found there! The Investigation is a free-for-all until all bodies have been found.
Once the victim(s) have been identified, there will be an IC announcement, and mods will provide Investigation sub-headers for the relevant locations. Up to 3 characters are welcome to investigate under each header unless indicated otherwise. ))

In all cases the direction of the gashes is 'roughly along the length of his body from top to bottom', but they're angled instead of meticulously straight. The sets also don't all have the same length or anything. ]

After taking note of whatever he might find there, Cain moves onto the right arm. ]
no subject
And the thing about the right arm is that... half of the right arm is gone. There's only an empty and very torn-up sleeve remaining. The arm itself is severed at the elbow.
It's a big hard to see the injury itself like this, so Cain might want to remove some clothing? ]

If a Central wizard wants to say Jesus Christ, but there's no Jesus, does he just say Faust Lavinia? Anyway.
Carefully rolling up the sleeve away from the wound so he gets a good look at it. What's it lookin' like, chief? ]

The edge of the humerus is sticking out of the arm, and it's looking fractured. The ulna and radius are completely gone. The flesh and tendons show signs of tearing. Basically, it looked like the arm has been ripped away by force, rather than cut.
Further, the upper arm is sitting a bit strangely in its socket in the shoulder... It's dislocated. ]

Right, noted. Moving. How are the other limbs doing? ]

Somewhere over the course of handling the body to check everything, Cain will also become aware that Sariel's ribs don't feel as they should. Several of them appear to be cracked. ]
no subject
Do the cracked ribs seem to line up with any of the cuts? If not, he's going to look up towards the castle to see if he fell from somewhere or tripped or anything immediately environmentally obvious. ]
no subject
If Cain looks towards the castle he'll see the bloodstain on the wall of the castle balustrade, as well as the blood stain on the grass below, which Hwylryn investigated earlier! That's at least one plausible source of fall, though not a particularly high one. ]

Taking Sariel's remaining hand and looking at it. Is there any trauma to the knuckles, palms, or fingertips suggestive of a fight? ]

[ This relieves him, somehow.
And along that trail of thought, Cain will attempt to peek through the tears in the clothing (he doesn't want to actually tear the clothes further or disturb the body anymore than he needs to) to see if there's any bruising on the skin where the ribs might be cracked. ]

Cain sits back on his heels, done with what details he can handle for now and looks at Sariel overall. How long does he seem to have been dead? ]
no subject
Unless Cain has any more specific questions, this about covers what he'll be able to find on Sariel's body... but once he turns away from the body, he may spot a bit of fabric in a nearby hedge. ]
no subject
I'm sorry, Sariel. [ sorriel. ] We'll find out who did this to you.
[ And he turns—well, that's convenient. Getting up and walking over to the fabric. What's going on here? Does it match what Sariel's wearing? ]
no subject
If he pulls it out, he'll find it to be something of an... eggplant-shaped sack, with an opening at one end that is laced with an elastic band. The size of the sack is... a bit larger than an average eggplant, but not by much.
And curiously, if he digs a little deeper in the hedge he'll find three more sacks of the same design and size. ]
no subject
Weird... Four in total. Cain will gently prod the the first sack. Does it feel like there's anything inside? And if there is, he will peek inside to see what it is. ]
All Core Evidence Found!
They're really rather non-descript. The one other thing notable about them is that the stitches sewing them together are not done very professionally. ]
no subject
Anyway, Cain will collect them all and gently roll them up to tuck into his various pockets... Ah, crap, he should probably change, too. ]
