EPILOGUE

Your stopped time has restarted. Whether you were in the grassy field or fighting for your life on the castle grounds, you'll suddenly find yourself in an untouched area of the gardens. Ish is back, and so are the items, and the dead.

You return to Chateau Ambregris with the certain knowledge that come Monday, you will greet a new week, in a home of your own choosing. No longer will the chime of the clocks hunt you down, no longer will the oppressive scent of roses haunt your senses, no longer will you be forced to watch the death of those you've come to love and hate.

Parting is such a bittersweet sorrow, isn't it?

Make merry one last time, in this castle of illusions. Ironically, your memories of this stolen time that never existed are the one thing that will truly remain to you.

🔮 There will be no cross-dimensional world travel, except for on Samhain (Witches New Year October 31st/November 1st). On these dates, Ish will enable everyone to visit each other's world freely.
🔮 Universal Communication will be possible, courtesy of Manba and Ish. Everyone who wants one will be given a small fox that can communicate with other foxes through voice and video; the foxes can talk and are fairly simple creatures, enjoy them and give them fried tofu once in a while.
🔮 Powers are on for the finale, but Ish will step in and yeet anyone who gets too out of hand back to their homeworld, so play nice! (or relatively nice. )

[ funny that she says this to him, but he'll smile all the same for her. ]

[ and where did that get him...??? it got him. results. at least within the context of where they are presently. ]

I'm going to go back home and see things through to the very end—I can't exactly abandon everyone who is counting on me. [ ... ] Or the people who don't know that they still need saving.

Oh, well... I guess that's natural, isn't it? Richard and I should be going back soon too.

[ back to the war. back to snowfield. ]

Um... take care of yourself, okay? I can't fix your hat anymore.

I see... Good luck to you both, and I definitely will.

[ the two of them both going back to their respected wars. don't know if anyone clued in ayaka about this but— ]

Thanks to everything, I'm considerably harder to kill than I was already. Besides, I have a partner who will take a great deal of care of my hat if I ever need anyone to.

[ nope, she has no idea.

but she smiles, clearly none the wiser to sabo's newfound immortality or powers. ]

Well, alright then. I'm glad you're not doing all of that alone. [ as amazing as it was, she thinks that it must be hard to do it on his own. learning that he has a partner, she feels a sense of relief. ] ...For what it's worth. I don't know how much closer I am to doing the whole forgiving thing. But... I think I'm one step closer. Maybe.

[ it's a long road. but at least she thinks she can see what's in front of her feet, instead of feeling like the ground may give right underneath her. ]

[ RIP THEN. he's not going to spell it out to her if she doesn't know. ]

Oh, definitely not—I have my commanders outside of her. There are only so many places a person can be. [ he chuckles weakly. ] ...and only so much any person can do their own.

[ thankfully he doesn't have time to dwell on that too much before— ]

Really?! [ he absolutely lights up with this. he's thrilled to hear this. grateful. ] I'm so happy for you and hope that you continue to keep making those steps forward. Even if they're just little ones and it takes a while before you can take the next one.

[ it won't be an easy journey given all that she carries with her but he's holding out for her. ]

I’ll… do my best. I’m not sure what’s gonna happen when we go back, but I hope I can do that.

[ maybe she’ll regress. maybe she’ll do something worse. she’s not sure, not yet. the future is uncertain as always, but she doesn’t want to let the people rooting for her down.

she’ll give sabo a quick bow. ]

Um… have fun! [ wait, that’s not really the best thing to say, is it? ] And good luck! For both you and your team.

[ she may not know who they are, but she doesn’t find it hard to imagine that they must be important to sabo. ]

You saying that much will put my mind at ease. I know just how tall of an ask it is.

[ goodness knows if sabo's fully forgiven himself but he chuckles softly at the "have fun". ]

I'll try not to have too much fun or I might start to give people the wrong impression. [ he has enough opinions about him out there in the vast world and there are only so many other opinions that he should nurture.

and that was going to be all that sabo was going to say before allowing ayaka to run off but then something suddenly occurs to him. wordlessly he'll reach into his coat and pull out a small piece of seemingly normal paper before ripping off a small scrap of it to hold out to her. ] Take this.

It's a called a "Vivre Card" and allows someone to keep tabs on its owner. I doubt it'll work across different worlds, but if we happen to end up being in the same space again, it'll try to reunite with me.

[ depending when/should she take it, she can see that it'll already wriggle towards sabo. ]

Eh?

[ she looks down at the seemingly unassuming piece of paper, before her eyes catch onto the fact that it's wriggling. she takes it in her hands, and then looks up to him with wide eyes. ]

How come?

[ no, she doesn't get that sabo might just want to see her again. ]
