EPILOGUE

Your stopped time has restarted. Whether you were in the grassy field or fighting for your life on the castle grounds, you'll suddenly find yourself in an untouched area of the gardens. Ish is back, and so are the items, and the dead.

You return to Chateau Ambregris with the certain knowledge that come Monday, you will greet a new week, in a home of your own choosing. No longer will the chime of the clocks hunt you down, no longer will the oppressive scent of roses haunt your senses, no longer will you be forced to watch the death of those you've come to love and hate.

Parting is such a bittersweet sorrow, isn't it?

Make merry one last time, in this castle of illusions. Ironically, your memories of this stolen time that never existed are the one thing that will truly remain to you.

🔮 There will be no cross-dimensional world travel, except for on Samhain (Witches New Year October 31st/November 1st). On these dates, Ish will enable everyone to visit each other's world freely.
🔮 Universal Communication will be possible, courtesy of Manba and Ish. Everyone who wants one will be given a small fox that can communicate with other foxes through voice and video; the foxes can talk and are fairly simple creatures, enjoy them and give them fried tofu once in a while.
🔮 Powers are on for the finale, but Ish will step in and yeet anyone who gets too out of hand back to their homeworld, so play nice! (or relatively nice. )

I could be larger than this, but I would crush everything within this space if I were. But, I don't know . . . I could probably size up, if you prefer a little bigger.

Perhaps it's best you stay at the size you are. I'd rather not be held liable for the destruction of another building.

Hmm, I suppose having an in with the Witch makes for an easier payment plan...

[ He seems to be actively considering this, though the subsequent question kind of puts a stop to that, for obvious reasons. ]

If things turn out the end, I know you'll see Ayaka again, if she's amenable to it. [ It's a big if – between all that faces them and the finish line, it's not going to be a simple victory. But if Richard's good at anything, it's pressing forward without any regrets.

He doesn't say anything about himself, though, which may or may not be an answer in of itself for Hwylryn. ]

( Paying off Ish with kisses absolutely feels like a cheat code, but here we are.

It's hard to read a dragon's expressions, them being short on facial muscles, but there's a slight tension in the air when Richard answers as he does. His tail (a ways back) flicks - agitation, maybe.

He should leave implication alone as implication. But, he can't help it - he's still fond of Richard (all of Primrose, though some have turned from him); he can't help but worry. Where he lacks in expression, this, at least, carries clearly in his voice. )

... You will not remain beside her? You've been with her all this time.

For as long as I possibly can. This place has already provided me more time than I was ever expecting.

[ By now, they've been together here longer than they ever knew each other in Nevada by several weeks. It's been hard, especially on Ayaka, but there's a small part of him that can't entirely regret the whole thing. ]

But whether I am defeated or not, I'll eventually be going back to the place I was summoned from. That's the nature of being a Heroic Spirit.

[ ....... who knows if he knows anything about the process in which the Grail War actually works. it probably doesn't matter either way. ]

( :(.... The way Hwylryn's head lowers, he certainly feels really sad to hear that. )

Most likely, I'm afraid. I'm not sure there's many ways to cheat it, if there are any.

[ ........... judging by the flash of realization on his face, he didn't even think of it. Not that it would've been his choice, anyway, but still. ]

I guess it's possible it could have worked on it, but... [ sweats ] Given how sudden everything was, between killing Siobhan and having to deal with the aftermath of the fire, I did not have much time to exactly go over my choices.

[ But on the chance Ayaka didn't make it, he's not sure he would have been happy with that decision, either way. ]

Then what did you pick, in the end?

( He's not gonna judge Richard for not using his wish on that (yet) when he expects Richard probably... used it on something Ayaka-related? Seems to be his character. He can be understanding of that. )

An insurance for Ayaka's safety. [ ... ] It was never going to work here, mind, but given how dangerous things are in Snowfield, it seemed like the next best thing.

[ It's pretty expected of him, he knows, but he doesn't really care. He shifts his weight slightly. ]

I've already a wish for the Grail – I'm content with that.

( sasuga ... though Hwylryn is still on the Richard Must Live bus, he seems to approve of this answer from him. Spending it on Ayaka is a valid choice. )

And what's that wish?

[ He smiles, with a very determined glint in his eye. ]

When my ancestor King Arthur was summoned in a similar fashion to me in a prior Holy Grail War, her wish was to go back to before she was chosen as king and start history over again with a new king leading the way. While I laud my king for staying true to her ideals, even if it means trampling those who helped her pave the way, I want to prove that the path she walked was no mistake.
