Mesdames et Messieurs, Voilà, C'est Vous
Bievenue
You're wrapped in a soothing, all-encompassing darkness.
Well, perhaps not perfectly all-encompassing -- you can see some slivers of light here and there, just enough to realize that your current space is literally wrapped in something, and that you are a highly customized burrito at the mercy of an entirely too fluffy bed and set of blankets. Moreover: you are definitely not alone.
Depending upon the contents of your bed (two of you, waking up dressed exactly in what you wore last you remember back where each of you came from, in the exact same state as those last moments no matter how illogical or disjointed), it may not be comfortable or feasible to stay cocooned up for much longer. There's a low, muted GONG, GONGG coming from not far away, your bed creaks like a beleaguered ship in an unannounced storm, and it is joined by even more noises of movement beyond the bed canopy as you try to take stock of where you are.
Eventually, you either fall out of bed or drag yourself into this world: your new and strangely crowded personal rooms, the clock insistently sounding out the hour, and the halls and heraldry of the venerable Château Ambregris -- a lavishly decorated and fully furnished version of a more-or-less authentic French castle (assuming you know what France or a castle are).
Left to your own devices for the moment, you may find it helpful to explore the castle for your own purposes, check out the suspicious statues and personalized plaques in the Promenade of Reflexion, or perhaps to try to get to the bottom of the mysterious and frankly alarming amount of bread piled up in front of the place settings in the Banquet Hall. (Were you thinking of escaping? Any attempts to leave the property will be met with no forward progress at all, treadmill style). There's just about every kind of loaf, roll, boule, baguette, croissant or even animal-shaped bread you can think of stacked in baskets. There's absolutely nothing else save for plain bread, but at least you won't starve.
[OOC: Welcome to Château Ambregris, a perfectly normal castle receiving perfectly normal guests. Feel free to ask any questions in discord! The NPC Meet & Greet will be later today, March 8 at 6 PM EST/3 PM PST.]

[ it might be strange to hope for a familiar face in this situation, but he just has that much faith in them. as long as they’re with him, everything will work out. ]
Are you relieved that he’s here? Your Saber?

[ ayaka looks at the plaque, and then down at her hands, each one marked with command spells. to say that she's not would be a lie, but there's such a deep guilt whenever she thinks about what she has done... ]
I'm not sure. It's probably my fault that he's here with me, so I feel bad for saying that I kind of am.

If he… if he considers you his friend, then he’ll want to be there for you, no matter what. Um, right? And if you consider him… uh… your… yours, then you’ll be there for him even if it is your fault.
[ and that makes everything ok! ]

[ hold up. back track. WAIT. ]
Sa- I mean, Richard isn't mine! He's his own person! I mean, we've been close the past few days, but it really is just because he needs my magical energy and nothing else. I mean, he's stupid and reckless and I have to reel him back a bit before he hurts himself or others, but that doesn't mean that I control him!

No, n-no, you didn't have a term for what he was to you, so I just... settled...

[ she shakes her head, trying to comfort the person in front of her. ]
It's my fault really. It's a complicated relationship because of how I am. [ ... ] But I do like being around him. If that helps.
no subject
He's important to you.
no subject
[ she nods. ]
Which is why I shouldn't have dragged him here.
[ even if it's not like she had a choice in the matter. ]
no subject
[ he thinks about it. he can see her point, but... ]
Who's to say... he wouldn't have been dragged elsewhere? And I think - [ he falters, unsure how to express himself. ] - sometimes...
Sometimes you need to be selfish before it's too late.
no subject
[ that'd be nice. ]
I'm not very good at that. Got any tips?
no subject
[ he keeps fidgeting and fiddling with his fingers until he comes up with: ]
You tell them not to leave. You ask them to stay. Even when... things are bad.
no subject
You're right. He'll probably stick around even if I tell him to leave anyways.
[ and yet she'll probably tell him to leave her alone anyways. she's so ungrateful. ]
Thank you, um... [ she tries to find the matching bust in order to read the plaque... ] Yoru.
no subject
Mm. You’re welcome, Ayaka. I’ll see you around, I think.
[ it’s a statement that’s 10% a question because he’s never entirely sure of anything. ]
