Maybe being swept away to a fancy castle isn't what you wanted (Hickey aside), but the fact of the matter is that you're stuck here, at least for now. Thankfully there's enough food even if hot chocolate for breakfast might be a bit rich for some palates. There's at least a stock of raw food in the kitchens, but your hapless kidnapper is a Witch, not a chef, so you'll have to perform your own, manual kitchen magic if the provided meals aren't to your liking.

Just try not to burn the place down before you get the chance to take your host at his word (that you'll be leaving in a week's time, certainly, trust).

If you do get the cabin fever immediately, the grounds are a beautiful reprieve from the great indoors -- and if nothing else, perhaps you can find time to get to know your fellow guests. The weather is gorgeous all week, cheerfully sunny, which lends something to the mood.

WEEKLY EFFECT

This week, characters will feel heightened emotions periodically. If they're very happy about something, it'll feel like the best thing in the world! If they'd usually brush off something mildly annoying, suddenly it'll grate on their nerves. This effect will last throughout the week until investigation and is completely optional.

[OOC: Welcome to Week 1! Despite the lack of any threatened murder (except in Witch's direction), there will be a case this week. We'll have a small optional event on Wednesday at 1PM EDT/10AM PDT, but it won't require real time threading and can be done over the course of the week. ]

[ His words are straightforward still. Blade doesn't beat around the bush.

He then briefly fixes his gaze above to the false sky that hangs above them, in the garden of lies that seem to obscure more than what any single one of them can possibly fathom. A silent night that speaks to a depth of uncertainties waiting to bloom in stars crafted from illusions. ]

I don't have the will.

[ Then, after that, Blade moves forward, more like a phantasm than a person, passing by Yoru. But, something stops, the reflection of that determination familiar, like something trying to sprout in the unknown. And then, a potential ripple in the still pool. ]

...I can't even see that possibility. But, if you achieve the impossible, what will you say this time, if you live to see it?

[ Yet, Blade doesn't want to hear an answer on the question now, and will instead move to depart. ]

What was it you said to me when you met? Humans love waiting? [That isn't exactly it, but Andrew might also be twisting the words for their impact.]

Once again, we're relegated to doing exactly that. We're short on time and have too much of it alike.

Not enjoying what we've been given?

[She never has much of an appetite, and so the sparse meals haven't fully made an impression on her yet. It might sink in over the week just how little they really have with only two daily meals and the breakfast being especially light.

At the return to poison, she tilts her head.]

It'd be a little stupid of me to accept it. At least no one I've seen eating Witch's half-baked apologies and falling down dead. If we were real royals, we'd have a taster...

My birth was also a mistake. [She's still talking a little too directly; that her feelings haven't cooled in several days is becoming irritating, and perhaps that makes her blunter still.] I'll be expected to atone for it for the rest of my life.

[After a pause, Andrew adds, with a touch more lace to it,] You're kind to think so, but I understand my place.

[ It's something Angelo actually has somewhat strong feelings about, so he's happy(?) to explain. ]

'Seek' is a pretty word, but that's not what happened. We were shipped off into space to do labor and leave the Earth to the rich and powerful. Overpopulation became a problem so they just abandoned everyone inconvenient in space.

[ Hugs have more meaning to her than simple platitudes. And pessimism comes to her easier than its opposite, a fact she is loath to admit despite her paranoia. Yet she said it out loud to whoever's around, even if they're people she only really knows the names of. It's wrong. All wrong.

Maybe it's that agitated state of mind that finally lets her reach out for a hug. Hugs are a hard ask when they're all stuck in this situation. Not the time. So when someone she does want to trust offers one anyway, she can't help but immediately reciprocate.

She doesn't let go for a while, blinking back tears. ]

Haha, I didn't. It's a short story by Frank R. Stockton. Or now that someone mentioned it, maybe a fairy tale? Not sure what sorta lesson you're supposed to get from this though.

[ Angelo at least thinks he understands the unspoken sentiment. He shouldn't be here. He should be with the Captain - Witch has committed the greatest of all sacrileges by ripping him away from their cold and silent embrace. If he could not do anything else for his Captain, then the least would be to make certain he rests comfortably. To hold him until the bitter end, giving all his own warmth for a man who made him come alive in the first place.

Instead he's standing here, listening to the fragile voice of an immortal dragon, who speaks to him of loss.

It seems like a bizarre joke.

Is the Captain resting well...? The Captain always slept when he could no longer help it, like a child who does not know his own limits. And now... now he is resting up for good, leaving the world doomed without him.

And Angelo is still here.

In the end he doesn't find anything to say to Hwylryn. His throat is tight and he won't cry right here, right in front of everyone, and there simply are no words for the enormity of feelings. So Angelo simply nods - to agree? To excuse himself? It's anyone's guess, but he is leaving the room to go and be alone now. ]

[A faint sheen of sweat starts appearing on Sousuke's forehead. Did he misunderstand how these statements were supposed to go? Did he just say the opposite of what he intended? Maybe that's the real reason everyone was reacting oddly... hm.]

They seem to be acceptable. I've no problems with making the most of what I have available, and they seem to be fairly decent as far as build is concerned.

That is the idea. Unfortunately more pressing things have gotten in the way of making amends, but once it's all over...

Meals are only served during set hours of each weekday. Some may decline these meals, but it's reasonable to expect more of a crowd during these periods. A bomb would be ideal if you wanted to maximize the number of casualties.
