WEEK ONE

WEEK ONE
32 Guests

Maybe being swept away to a fancy castle isn't what you wanted (Hickey aside), but the fact of the matter is that you're stuck here, at least for now. Thankfully there's enough food even if hot chocolate for breakfast might be a bit rich for some palates. There's at least a stock of raw food in the kitchens, but your hapless kidnapper is a Witch, not a chef, so you'll have to perform your own, manual kitchen magic if the provided meals aren't to your liking.

Just try not to burn the place down before you get the chance to take your host at his word (that you'll be leaving in a week's time, certainly, trust).

If you do get the cabin fever immediately, the grounds are a beautiful reprieve from the great indoors -- and if nothing else, perhaps you can find time to get to know your fellow guests. The weather is gorgeous all week, cheerfully sunny, which lends something to the mood.

WEEKLY EFFECT
This week, characters will feel heightened emotions periodically. If they're very happy about something, it'll feel like the best thing in the world! If they'd usually brush off something mildly annoying, suddenly it'll grate on their nerves. This effect will last throughout the week until investigation and is completely optional.
[OOC: Welcome to Week 1! Despite the lack of any threatened murder (except in Witch's direction), there will be a case this week. We'll have a small optional event on Wednesday at 1PM EDT/10AM PDT, but it won't require real time threading and can be done over the course of the week. ]

[ Blade shouldn't really be picky - maybe the good mood is temporarily awakening the blacksmith in him, though. Of a time where he certainly had less vague and apparent issues.

What is to be done about it, though? And to think, there's nothing like the kind of weaponry he is more used to. He just really isn't so endeared to the flashy craftsmanship as a whole, either. ]

No. Not entirely.

...Are you?

[ There's a noncommittal shrug, as he turns over the sword to inspect the hilt. ]

They seem to be acceptable. I've no problems with making the most of what I have available, and they seem to be fairly decent as far as build is concerned.

[ They're certainly no Rhongomyniad or Caliburn, but he'll take it. ]
baebladie: (I throw it all away)

It is average.

[ Blade takes up a sword and carefully swings it, testing its weight. Even if ornamental at least it does seem to hold up and isn't just for looking pretty, though... ]

...I prefer my usual weapon.

[ Even in the state that it is, the craftsmanship can't really be beat. ]

What sort do you generally prefer, then?

[ .......... he can probably guess, given the name, but........... ]

[ Sure, he could always just simply answer 'blade', but he goes a wee bit further, figuring it doesn't matter. ]

...A blade. Shard Sword.

But, I don't have it with me.

[ A small pause. ]

What is the name of your preferred weapon?

[ The name seems to pique Richard's interest, blatantly so. ]

A fine name, by the sounds of it. Is it famous?

[ When asked about his, though, he huffs, almost like he's preening. ]

Mine is Excalibur. [ ... ] Well, it's more of the name than the sword itself. I've been known to name most of the swords in my possession that.
baebladie: (in your hall of fame)

[personal profile] baebladie 2025-03-20 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
...it was made by a master blacksmith.

Though, knowledge of its existence has long since faded from the hall of fame.

[ Blade merely says, though he is implying it is still of better craftsmanship than the objects here. ]

Why did you name all of your swords Excalibur?

Is it truly so old that it has faded from memory? I'd love to be able to see it, once we're out of this place.

[ He nods excitedly. ]

Are you not familiar with the tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table? I've always been enamored with them, even since I was a little boy, and I always wanted to have – or at least see – the famous holy sword wielded by Arthur himself.
baebladie: (I take everything)

The person responsible has, and so has the name of the sword; and its legacy, from most.

If I have the chance...I'll show you.

[ Blade hasn't heard anyone touting the works of his past self across the Xianzhou anymore; so, pretty easy conclusion to reach.

Though...there may be a scant who still possess the knowledge. He doesn't think whoever watched over him has anything flattering to say (he doesn't know this isn't true, actually...) ]

I've never heard of King Arthur or his Knights.

...Did you get the chance? To ever see the famous Excalibur?
