Maybe being swept away to a fancy castle isn't what you wanted (Hickey aside), but the fact of the matter is that you're stuck here, at least for now. Thankfully there's enough food even if hot chocolate for breakfast might be a bit rich for some palates. There's at least a stock of raw food in the kitchens, but your hapless kidnapper is a Witch, not a chef, so you'll have to perform your own, manual kitchen magic if the provided meals aren't to your liking.

Just try not to burn the place down before you get the chance to take your host at his word (that you'll be leaving in a week's time, certainly, trust).

If you do get the cabin fever immediately, the grounds are a beautiful reprieve from the great indoors -- and if nothing else, perhaps you can find time to get to know your fellow guests. The weather is gorgeous all week, cheerfully sunny, which lends something to the mood.

WEEKLY EFFECT

This week, characters will feel heightened emotions periodically. If they're very happy about something, it'll feel like the best thing in the world! If they'd usually brush off something mildly annoying, suddenly it'll grate on their nerves. This effect will last throughout the week until investigation and is completely optional.

[OOC: Welcome to Week 1! Despite the lack of any threatened murder (except in Witch's direction), there will be a case this week. We'll have a small optional event on Wednesday at 1PM EDT/10AM PDT, but it won't require real time threading and can be done over the course of the week. ]

GENERAL SHENANIGANS

( Arriving to the pool hall, you'll find the workshop has been thoroughly ransacked - ribbons and fake jewelry deck the walls with all the enthusiasm of a primary school open house.

There are two pools - a large, heated one, and a small, cold one. Towels and ye olde, coverup swimsuits are provided, but there's no changing rooms or showers here. Chairs and small, prop tables have been set up at periodic intervals around the pool.

There is a snack table set up with alcohol (as well as water and juice), jam, and vegetables, fruit (largely apples and pears), the table likely a prop raided for this purpose. There is A Lot of alcohol set up, in a true wizardland fashion. You probably shouldn't drinking and swimming, but it's probably fine,

There is, in fact, a trivia tree set up along the entrance: more of an overlarge bouquet of branches and flowers and herbs picked from the gardens, large and stable enough for folks to hang stuff off it. Beside it is a prop table with fountain pens, ink and paper as well as pins to make holes with, and string to hang the papers up with. No one is checking at the door if you submit trivia, but...

Other than that, have fun! )

[While Urianger does attend, he notably stays out of the water and lingers at the snack/sitting areas instead. Neither of the pools are actually dangerous for him, given how tall he is, but he's not a fan of swimming either way.

He's totally open to mingle, though! He's not a full-blown wallflower.]

[She is also avoiding the pool water - in fact, Andrew is still wearing a full-length dress, covered from neck to wrists to ankles, despite how balmy and humid it is. She's already seated, a fluter of bubbling liquid in one hand, looking a little humid.]

It's almost like I never left school.

[She tilts her glass to gesture. A much more eager group of participants is setting up the game rounds. It sounds so much like what other girls whispered and giggled over.]

[Urianger tips his head as a polite greeting to her before responding.]

I did hear whispers of activities such as these during my academic career. Deep in my studies as I was, I lacked the ability to participate.

[Students buried in books was a common sight in the Studium, at least. It's a wonder that anyone had time to throw parties.]

Dost thou find this environment to thy liking?

[Is she a party person, not so much does she like pool parties... He has a feeling she might be in the same boat as him for the latter.]

[Another nerd...There's no shortage of them here, it seems. And what does that make her?]

Well, you know how young women are. They're only in school as a holdover before marriage, anyway. There's plenty of time for frivolities. I never did enjoy attending parties or talking to the people there. Recently, I gave it another attempt. [It's the source of her previous kissing confession, even. Her fingers play at the stem of the glass.]

[He tips his head as Andrew continues, a sign that he very much doesn't know.]

[ Hi Urianger, G'raha's here too, pear in hand. He's been partaking in the snacks the entire time he's been here, naturally. ]

To think we would be whisked away to another star only to have a gathering by the pool.

Neither can I. To be fully honest, I'm quite glad for it.

[ He looks out at everyone else mingling as he takes a bite of his pear, chewing thoughtfully. ]

It feels peaceful, despite everything.

I have been meaning to ask, however... Wert thou able to assist Witch in his efforts to conceive a new spell to return us?

Our magically mistaken friend here is not what I would describe as particularly helpful.

[ But given the way Witch acted in front of all of them, that's not really a surprise. ]

[ Siffrin is! And has elected to... stay as close to his roommates as he can, them being. Like. The people he knows even vaguely best, quiet and to himself as he generally has been.

But he does seem content to simply listen to conversations rather than join in, has been the vibe both in the suite and now. ]

[Hello, roomie!! Urianger has noted that Siffrin seems to be more of a listener than a talker, but hopefully they don't mind him checking in.]

Yeah. It's kind of fun, being around so many different people.

'Tis an ensemble most varied indeed. I believe this to be my favorite aspect of our stay thus far.

[ Angelo is here. Against his better judgement, he's here, because he feels like he has to at least kind of keep track of the kinds of people he is stuck here with. So yeah, let's party, even if he's not going to enjoy it. He's fully dressed and has no intention of getting in the water.

After arrival, he spends a brief moment staring at the laid-out bottles of alcoholic beverages. It almost seems like he is going to reach for one, but then he decisively shakes his head and pours himself a juice instead.

He does not put anything up by the trivia tree, rip. ]

( If Angelo is looking, he might notice that, while Hwylryn is off in the pool (as always), he seems to keep an eye on who comes in and who does or doesn't put anything on the trivia tree.

[ He's say that if this is pity, he doesn't need it, but... Well, honestly he's glad to be left alone on this. Just hanging out in his corner and judging everyone else is his all he wants to do tonight, and he's content to do it in peace. ]

[Chara sits at the pool, their legs dipping into the water. They look at the snack table with a gaze that's somewhere between exasperation and loathing.]

Adults will look for any opportunity to get drunk.

[ Homura is here ... mostly because a certain wet dragon resides in the same suite as her and probably would make sad faces at her if she didn't come. Or help out.

So instead she's wallflowering around the tables, at the edges of the room. To her credit she doesn't look uncomfortable in the crowd, but also ... We're good at parties here, gang. ]
