Psst. Were you enjoying your peaceful, sleepy spring morning, blanketed in magic and mystery? Alas, the times they are a-changin’ – that is to say, everyone will get a rude wake-up call from a sleep they may not remember falling into at precisely 8 o’clock AM on the dot, every single grandfather clock clanging out the hour once again. It’s truly a grand and terrible orchestra, made perhaps just a bit worse by the state some of you may be waking up in.

Now, is this better or worse than your last magical wake-up?

[ His eyes snap up, expression somewhere between incredulous and pleased. What a question. He laughs. ]

Do you speak from experience on that subject, as well?

[ Once the body is out of the puddle, Hickey will stick a couple fingers right into that stab wound. Based on the location and whatever he feels in there, does it seem like this wound would've punctured anything important? ]

[Hickey fingers the wound. It's also a bit soggy.

The wound's location and his fiddling conclude: it would not have hit anything vital.]

She was likely done in by the fall, yes... Perhaps whatever did this caused her to lose her balance.

[ Not that he has any clue why she'd be climbing stuff, though.

He'll give the body another general once-over... Other than what appears to be fall damage to her head and back, is anything else amiss? ]

[He can see that the back of her shoulders has turned a dark purplish-red, blending in with the blood on the back of her clothes.

Speaking of the back of her clothes, it's all cut up in addition to being bloodstained.

Her gloves are also torn up and a bit bloodied, though not nearly as much as everything else.]

[ Would he be able to tell if the cut up clothing was ripped in something like a fall or a struggle, or was it cut intentionally?

He's also gonna take off her gloves and check out what's under there! ]

[The cuts are of varying length and look pretty haphazard, though the cloth and the big jewel accessory on the back of her outfit are obscuring the wounds. They look like clean cuts rather than ripped, though.

Her knuckles are lightly cut up, and it looks like there’s small glass shards embedded in her skin and gloves.]

[ Interesting... but he's also not exactly a detective, so all these details get a big ol' shrug from him. He plucks a glass shard from her skin for pure curiosity's sake, but then leaves the body be. ]

She had quite an evening, from the looks of it.

No, but I kept thinking of your confession.

[ Yeah, Hickey can... handle this. Siffrin's gonna bear witness. And make small talk, their specialty (it is not). ]

Well, I didn't resort to eating human flesh because the man looked appetizing, I can tell you that.

[ He doesn't sound offended, though. ]

[ Too bad Andrew looks it... and with a sword in hand. He'll have to apologize later. Maybe with a wood carving, if he can find a smaller knife... ]

I figured. It, um. Doesn't seem like it'd be easy.

Oh, it's easier than you'd think, once you're faced with the decision. The hard part is getting that desperate in the first place.

[ He's not gonna just go around eating people recreationally, if anyone was... wondering... ]

... I think she was in a fight. A fall, even through glass... wouldn't cut her back like that.

[ Did the Witch tell someone the conditions of return before? Or... did something else happen? It was intentional, though. That's for certain. ]

A fight of some kind seems likely, yes. Her clothing doesn't look ripped, though.

[ He very respectfully (no) nudges Tiamat's corpse with his boot. ]

More... slashed. As with claws, or a blade.
