Psst. Were you enjoying your peaceful, sleepy spring morning, blanketed in magic and mystery? Alas, the times they are a-changin’ – that is to say, everyone will get a rude wake-up call from a sleep they may not remember falling into at precisely 8 o’clock AM on the dot, every single grandfather clock clanging out the hour once again. It’s truly a grand and terrible orchestra, made perhaps just a bit worse by the state some of you may be waking up in.

Now, is this better or worse than your last magical wake-up?

Only time will tell.

[ If Richard looks up, he'll see ropes hanging loose - they're part of a rigging construction that was evidently meant to hold the curtains up but somehow didn't, tonight.

The tears in the fabric are frayed around the edges. He'll have to get in closer to see more detail though. ]

[ Does it look like the ropes were cut/had snapped, or more of a "they're intact but they're not holding it up anymore"?

Before he does any more detailed looking, he takes a sweep of the stage area. If there's nothing there beyond like the instruments he was noodling with that he can see, he start to unfurl it more onto the stage to get a better view of what the damage is like here. If there is something then he'll look at first but I'm just trying to streamline it in case there's nothing there. ]

[ The ropes look intact, they're just not holding anything!

There's the a few lit candles lining the curtain heap, but otherwise it's just the instruments and the fire backdrop set up on stage. ]

[ Oh, let's go look at those candles then before a fire breaks out and he destroys another theatre. Can the location from where they came be reasonably sourced? Is he able to tell how long they've been burning for, or just how much of them have burned? ]

[ The answer here is the same as to Ayaka! These five candles are likewise the types that are used in the chandeliers and they're quite molten down, with layers upon layers of wax droplets changing their shape. ]

[ Cool.

He'll put them out then, then start undoing the curtain to get a better gauge on just what we're looking for by way of damage here. ]

[ The tears are all jagged with frayed edges, but as he gets in closer to look at them with greater scrutiny, Richard will be able to tell that there are two kinds of tears.

One kind is going straight, while the other is more irregular with no real discernible pattern to the way the fabric is damaged. ]

[ How covered in cuts is it? Is it focused on any one particular side?

He's also going to check the edge of the curtain that would make contact with the floor, inspecting the length of it so see if there's anything that got dragged up in the fibers or not. ]

[ It's not meticulously shredded. There are only around half a dozen tears, give or take. Richard can tell which part of the curtain was the top based on the rigging attachment, so he'll be able to tell that the tears are concentrated off-center to the right, at about 3/4th height of the curtain.

The lower edge of the curtain looks clean and not particularly notable! ]

[ About how tall are you viewing the curtain as? im sorry for the pedantry lol probably best that we get the gauge earlier than later before we get a narwhal situation again and zelos gets scaped.

He'll check where the rigging is attached to the top part of the curtain to ensure that nothing's there, before finally moving on. Is the part of the fire set that is on the stage the one that Ayaka was just looking at? ]

[ The curtain is about 3m tall / approaching 9 feet in height.

The curtain is intact aside from the tears that Richard observed earlier. And the fire is indeed part of the same set of backdrop pieces!

As he examines the setpieces, he might also see a pile of props towards the entrance of the backstage area.

Oh and also... CORRECTION: the earlier candles were the castle-typical magic candles that do not burn with real fire. ]

[ Ooooh, props. Let's take a look and see what we got here... ]

[ There's a pretty big pile here... but if Richard digs a little he'll be able to produce two jester's hats that don't belong here, because normally they should be in with the clown clothes.

Their bells have been ripped off. ]

[ yknow when you said bells in sabo's part i was thinking about the ones with the handles so when you said they were grape–sized i was so confused. this is simply on me because i am stupid.

Anyway this is a sad development... is there anything else in the pile? ]

there is one last thing in the pile, a small wooden frog. ]

[ RIBBIT.

Two further clarification questions and then I will leave you alone:

- I know the only props that matter are the hat and the frog but are they different enough that the frog sticks out?
- How is frog. Any kind of wear and tear/abnormal condition to it? ]

[ yes, the frog does stick out.

frog is fine! it is a cute little toy frog 🐸. ]
