TRIAL II
Trial
At least this time you were given ample time to wreck your sleep schedule before the clocks gong at midnight (no apologies for such little sleep in the first place withstanding). The carnival looks just as you remember it, with the banquet and drinks refreshed. The spread is the same as before with two new additions: a platter of cute cupcakes that might remind you of someone, along with baozi of all types.
Like before, mind the pit in the middle and settle in to vote out the guilty party for the death of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. With the benefit of experience, maybe this will be a little bit easier? With the mood weather lifted, there won't be any floods at trial at least.
(( OOC: Welcome to your first trial! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game ))
catherd LETS TALK TIMELINES
[ ayaka's not someone that's great at calling people's attention. but she claps her hands together, trying to get the attention centered on her.
despite being anxious to be speaking to so many people, she raises her voice and starts. ]
I think we need to take time to put our thoughts together. Um, I think we've been talking about whether the barricades or the fire happened first. And if that's the case, then I know Andrew was thinking about why the door handle would be ripped off in the first place, or if it's even possible.
And another thing, why would the solarium doors be open if she was running away from the library or the banquet hall? [ ... ] I just think that once we have settled down the timeline, we can work from there. So, uh... please, share your thoughts. I guess.
[ that's a lot more public speaking than she has done in a long time. she's slinking over to the side now. ]

[Andrew does a little listening. A lot of listening, actually, to the conversations that have been happening in lieu of narrowing things down.
She had been hoping that, if it was one of them, they might out themselves in the ensuing discussion, but Yoru has cut the corners here a little bit, at least.]
Any fingers to point just yet?

For Siffrin's part... Eating the torta di cocco still, sorry. ]
... Um. I'd understand it if the window in the solarium was broken, since it leads out to the gardens too, but... It sort of feels like... They were just passing by. Since the salon's the only way out into the gardens.
[ That! Is fact. Timelines, timelines... ]
But it does open up to the stairwell too, if... someone took a different path, to cut her off. The fire might've been an accident, but if the blockage was purposeful to make her go a certain way...

When you want to hunt animals, you only give them one route. The bathroom... wasn't a possible escape route, because of the poker. The odds and ends of the other one feels more like it was trying to trip whoever up, but if that was the case it shouldn't have stayed that way.
[ A pause, staring hard... Eating some of the coconut. ]
I don't think... it was someone in the library's fault, because it'd be hard to set either one up if you're locking yourself from the inside. The poker was probably first, and then the blockade after, but... I also don't think... um, that this was a one person job.
[ Which is new, Siffrin's thoughts, the more they stare at the loose "map" they've made. They've done a little more traversing, on the first floor. They have a better idea of how to get outside than they did last week.
You know. Just in case. ]
There's a door to the outside of the chapel, isn't there? I wonder why... through the house, then. If that was a clean exit.

[ she tilts her head. ]
You think there were... um... multiple people?

I'm not sure who was responsible, but they may have been desperate if the door seemed locked.

Perhaps someone trapped us in the library, Siobhan managed to get out, and then while angry chased the perpetrator outside into the hedge maze?

[He's going to hum, and gesture over at where Vanis and Homura are talking about the lantern]
She died in the hedge maze, and there's the shattered lantern on the stairs. Maybe the killer held the lantern and dropped it while on the stairs. If Siobhan was chasing them, they got her to follow into the maze where they managed to get behind her and stab her?
